Hi Banto,

Thanks for sharing all that info with us...U R absolutely right on the theme of Love for God.

The GM version in "Long Da Lishkara" will probably go down in history as the most pouplar recording of this song.

I notice that when GM sings it live, he usually sings "...Meri Dukhan Di Kahani, Ve Aa Ke Sun Ja Zubani, Ve Gal Sun Challeya"...but on the recording he left the word Zubani out...why? (or is it just one of those unsolved mysteries in life).

The other verse that I like in Shaukat Ali's version is:

Challa No Mann Daney,
Ve Jat Bada Hi Thaney,
Ve Buka Tar Ke Siraney,
Ve Jatti Rona Janey
Ve Gal Sun Challeya.
Raiyan Ve Ka di Beri Paiyan

and of course, there is the classic verse,

Challa Mur Ke nai Aaya
Rona Umran Da Paya
Maleya Hi Des Paraya
Ve Gal Sun Challeya,
Chowra Ve Ka da Laya Hi Chora

Anyway, I reckon that the live performance of this song by GM is incredible...although being a nostalgic person, If I had to choose, then I would go for the traditional live version with more violin sound rather than the current version which has too much percussion...but again that is just my opinion.
